Frequently Asked Questions

A list of frequently asked questions to help you to give answer for your questions on your mind.

Cataract is a condition where the natural lens of the eye becomes cloudy, leading to vision problems. It typically develops without pain. Also, eye injuries and certain eye diseases lead to early development of cataract.

Cataracts commonly occur in people around the age of 60 or older. They may also result from eye diseases or injuries.

It’s best to consult an eye surgeon and undergo surgery as soon as vision problems begin, rather than waiting for the cataract to fully mature.

Symptoms include cloudy or blurry vision, sensitivity to light or glare from the sun or lamps, and difficulty reading or driving, especially at night.

Cataract surgery involves removing the cloudy natural lens from the eye and replacing it with an artificial intraocular lens (IOL).

Vision will gradually worsen, and once the cataract becomes mature, the surgery can become more difficult to perform successfully.

Typically, three days of rest are sufficient. However, if you work in a dusty or unclean environment, it’s advisable to take at least seven days of leave.

General anesthesia is not required. Instead, a local anesthetic in the form of lignocaine gel is applied to the eye before surgery.
