Conveyance of the state land to the hospital was done under the guidance of Hon. Minister Lasantha Alagiyawanne and under the patronage of the Chairman of Mahara Pradeshiya Saba Mr. Sahan Pradeep Vithana.
Good friends of Lion Mahen Kariyawasan – Mr. Guido, Mrs Guido and Mr.Peter Karnel made the first donation to build the main building of the Hospital.
Lions Clubs International Foundation (LCIF) donated 30 dollars per each free cataract surgery since 2009 to 2014.
Our Hospital received a large amount of equipment with the kind contribution of Lion Ladies of District 306-B-2. Since the inception, hospital is maintained and supported by Lions District 306B2, and accordingly every year Lions Ladies’ Committee headed by 1st Lady (District Governor’s spouse) organized a fundraising project and provided much needed instruments to the Hospital.
It is important to note that Consultant eye surgeon Dr. Manel Pasqual who contributes her expertise without any payment since the establishment of the hospital is a great source of strength.
Every year the District Governor of District 306 B 2 serves in the hospital trust. They have given their fullest co-operation for the improvement of the hospital. It is a secret of our success. Moreover the assistance of the Lions clubs in our district 306 B 2 is admired. All clubs in our district have given their fullest cooperation to make our hospital a success.
